One licensed agent from the top 10% of metro Atlanta who works Doraville and the 30340, 30360 and 30362 ZIPs. Two-hour response. Your inquiry is never sold to five agents.
"Hi there — I saw your inquiry and I have a few properties in your range that just hit the market. When can we connect?"
Doraville grew from 8,330 residents in 2010 to 10,623 in 2020. The DeKalb County city was incorporated in 1871. General Motors opened an assembly plant here in 1947; the plant is gone, and part of the site is now the Assembly Atlanta film and TV studio campus. The Doraville MARTA station, opened in 1992, is the northern end of the Gold Line.
Doraville is served by the DeKalb County School District, but many of its assigned schools sit in neighboring cities: Chamblee Charter, Cross Keys (Brookhaven) and Dunwoody high schools all serve parts of Doraville. Your agent confirms the assigned schools and the city limits for every address before you make an offer.
Buyers looking at Doraville often start with access to the MARTA Gold Line, Buford Highway and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. A listing that shows the distance to the station and the assigned schools answers their first questions. Start with a free valuation from a licensed agent.
Georgia taxes a home on 40% of its fair market value, multiplied by the combined millage rate set by the county, the school district and, inside city limits, the city. One mill is $1 for every $1,000 of assessed value.
Homestead exemption: if you own and live in the home on January 1, apply with the county by April 1. It lowers your tax bill, and many counties add their own exemptions on top of the $2,000 state exemption. Ask your agent to check the current bill on any home you consider, since a seller's exemptions don't carry over to you.
Unincorporated DeKalb's 2026 rate is 44.090 mills for county and school taxes, before the EHOST credit. Cities add their own rate.
DeKalb homeowners must have a homestead exemption to get the EHOST credit, which comes from a local sales tax and reduces the county's share of the tax bill. It does not apply to city or school taxes. In February 2025, DeKalb County's government announced it intended to opt out of the HB 581 floating homestead exemption.
